The JOYO JF-328 Nebulous Phase mini Guitar Effect Pedal has landed. .
The JOYO nebulous phaser splits your guitar signal into 2 separate paths. One signal remains unaffected while the other signal passes through 4 all pass filters and an LFO (Low Frequency Oscillator), these two signals are then mixed back together. The JOYO Nebulous phaser has 4 of these all pass filters, it makes it a 4 stage phaser, just like a certain orange ancestor ;).
The phase effect filters the guitar signal by creating a series of peaks and troughs in the frequency spectrum. The position of the peaks and troughs of the waveform being affected is then modulated, adjusting speed, width and feedback. The phase effect varies over different times, adjusting the phase width (the gap between the peaks), creates a sweeping effect that can sometimes be confused with flanger..
As well as the plethora of 70's rock, funk and pop recordings, phase is commonly found on 70s keyboards and remains a classic effect used across all genres of music.
On guitar, we achieved some nice phase results placing the nebulous phase after the JOYO molo trem (tremolo), something oscillating before adjusting the volume works well with many modulated effects. The Nebulous phase enables you to create anything from a subtle modulated effect to your original signal, to generating a varied wide oscillated mix that will take your tone into another dimension..
Listen to Small Faces, Brian May, Radiohead, Eddie Van Halen. Lots of 80s and synth sounds.
& watch the demo with Shane from In the Blues.
